Code of Conduct for Music4Life String Orchestra and Performing Ensemble

This Code of Conduct applies to all individuals involved with Music4Life String Orchestra and Performing Ensemble, including musicians, parents, staff, and volunteers, during any organization-related activity or event. These activities encompass rehearsals, performances, travel, breaks, retreats, workshops, meetings, and any other event associated with our musical or educational programs.

Our Commitment to a Safe and Respectful Environment

At Music4Life String Orchestra and Performing Ensemble, we are dedicated to maintaining an environment where everyone feels safe, valued, and respected. We are committed to ensuring that our community is free from harassment, discrimination, bullying, and violence.

Harassment may include any unwelcome behaviors such as inappropriate comments, jokes, threats, or any form of communication—whether verbal, written, visual, or physical—that does not serve a legitimate purpose related to our mission or activities.

Your Role in Shaping a Positive Community

Every member of the Music4Life community plays a vital role in fostering an environment based on mutual respect and safety. We all share the responsibility of ensuring that our space is welcoming and inclusive.

Expected Behavior and Responsibilities

As a part of the Music4Life community, we expect everyone to:

  • Treat others with respect: Maintain dignity and act thoughtfully in all interactions, keeping the well-being of others in mind.

  • Adhere to our values: Uphold the principles of our organization and behave in a manner that reflects our mission and standards.

  • Set a positive example: Your actions and words serve as a model for others. Always strive to behave in ways that align with the expectations of the event and represent Music4Life in a professional and respectful manner.

  • Maintain appropriate physical boundaries: Exercise discretion and ensure that physical contact is always consensual and appropriate.

  • Align your behavior with our mission: Avoid promoting personal beliefs or behaviors that are incompatible with the core values of Music4Life.

  • Uphold respect and integrity: Abuse of any kind—physical, verbal, or otherwise—is completely unacceptable. We will not tolerate any form of abuse in our community.

  • Respect others' property: Take care of the property entrusted to you, including any equipment or materials borrowed from the organization.

  • Follow substance use guidelines: Do not bring or consume illegal drugs at any Music4Life event or while responsible for others. When alcohol is allowed at events, always exercise good judgment in consumption, particularly when in a supervisory role or in the presence of students. Consider the impact of alcohol on your ability to perform your responsibilities.

Addressing Concerns and Conflicts

In the event that any issues arise between community members, we are committed to addressing these matters with care and respect. All concerns will be reviewed by the Executive Team or an appointed mediator, who will ensure a fair and appropriate resolution.
